Love at First Sight

Feb 20

If there is one comment we hear a lot here at Affordablepup.com, ‘It was love at first sight.’  Our staff experiences love at first sight with every puppy.  As much as we work with puppies you would think we would be immune to their charms.  Nope, every puppy we lay eyes on, we fall in love with.  We don’t even try to fight it anymore.

Some of the most loved puppies in our kennel are our teacup breeds.  They are born little and they stay that way.  Somehow they make us fall in love all over again every time we see them.

One of the most popular of the teacup breeds is the Teacup Yorkie.  Our other breeds are just as cute but these little guys have an allure all their own.  They stay small and they keep their puppy energy and enthusiasm most of their adult life.  Our kennel always has Teacup Yorkie puppies for sale in Ohio; if you are interested in adopting one we can always arrange a webcam appointment so you can take a better look at your puppy to be.

Another ‘it was love at first sight’ breed has to be the Teacup Maltese.  These little beauties will steal your heart the first time you set eyes on them.  If you have ever seen a Maltese at a dog show you see them moving, but their long fur hides their legs.  As one woman put it, ‘It’s the sweetest thing I ever saw.’  These dogs are very easy to train and can be trained to be therapy dogs in hospitals and Hospice Centers.  We have a constant demand for these dogs and you can always come to us to find Teacup Maltese puppies for sale.

We can’t leave out the one breed that seems to amuse their owners more than any other teacup breed and that is the Teacup Pomeranian.  If the teacup breed needs a clown this is its best representative. This is another breed very much like the Yorkie that never loses its puppy energy and affection.  If you can get past all the fur that covers their face you will see a set of eyes that will delight all your senses.  No other dog fits the definition of cute like this breed.  They are an excellent breed for apartment dwellers and those with a small house and yard.

Affordablepup.com is committed to the health and welfare of our puppies.  All puppies are up to date on their puppy shots and in the best of health when they leave our facility.  If you have questions please see the FAQ page.  If you have questions that aren’t addressed on that page please feel free to call us.  When you take your puppy home we make sure you have all the paperwork and instructions to insure your puppy has a happy and healthy life.

Despite their size Toy Breeds think they are Herculean

Feb 16

Our staff has a good chuckle every time we get a letter or an email about the devotion and protective nature of our little dogs.  Many of these breeds think nothing of approaching a human 10 times their size and letting them know whose boss.

One of those breeds is the Teacup Morkie.   Some would call this breed a hybrid or a designer dog but, it is a wonderful breed for so many reasons.  Morkies came into being by breeding a Maltese and a Yorkie.  Each breed brought its own uniqueness into the mix and what the breeder received was nothing short of the ideal toy dog.  Morkies are truly fearless. They do not hesitate to sound the alert when they sense danger.  Their temperament with their owners is legendary.  They are full of energy but are very social animals.

The Morkies for sale in our kennel have various size and color combinations.  If you stop by our main website you will have trouble deciding which Morkie to choose from.  A Morkies coat takes its darker colors from the Yorkie the white patches from the Maltese.

Another toy breed that is an excellent watchdog as well as a trusted companion is the Teacup Pomeranian.  The Teacup Pomeranians for sale in our facility are a perfect example of the breed.  These little guys won’t get more than a foot tall.  That will not stop them from being the perfect burglar alarm.  Pomeranian puppies don’t eat a lot; their full grown body weight won’t be over about 6 pounds.

Looking like a little ball of fur, they approach their owners with lightening speed.  They are known for their extreme agility in canine sports.  Most of the Pomeranians were bred for hunting and in some that instinct still exists.  They are comfortable in wide open spaces and seem to be just as happy in an apartment size dwelling.

Affordablepups.com makes sure all the puppies that leave our facility are healthy and are up to date with all their puppy shots.  If you are curious about a puppy you see on our website feel free to schedule a webcam appointment so we can show you just how cute and loving our puppies are.  After you have decided on a puppy you can put a hold on it until you are sure your home has been puppy proofed and is ready for his or her arrival.

If you live in our area, schedule an appoint to see the puppy of your choice.  We don’t see too many customers walk out of our kennel empty handed.  We welcome visitors because as soon as they leave they can’t stop talking about our facility or our puppies.  Word of mouth is our greatest advertisement.

Cute and Cuddly; These Puppies Work Wonders

Feb 13

There is something magical about a toy breed of puppy. It doesn’t matter what the breed is they are enchanting. Even if you have had a bad day at work you come home to this warm cuddly bundle of energy and suddenly things don’t seem so bad. These little dogs are the highlight of their owner’s lives.

Here at affordablepup.com we have many of the toy breeds that bring people such joy. One of the more popular breeds is our Teacup Yorkie. These little guys will stay little and all the while keep their puppy innocence. These adorable dogs will never weigh more than 5 or 6 pounds and they have the added bonus of being good travelers. You can put them in any large purse or handbag and they will be perfectly happy where ever you go.

Because of their popularity we have Teacup Yorkies for sale most of the time. If you are interested in one of these fresh faced little gems give us a call and we can answer all your questions.

Another breed that has gained popularity in recent years has been Teacup Pomeranian puppies. These balls of fluff are extremely adaptable and as long as the puppy’s owner is around; all is right with the world. Our Teacup Pomeranians for sale come in various color combinations and are up to date with all their shots.

Affordablepup.com has so many different teacup breeds that it is difficult for us to say which one is our favorite breed. They all have different attributes that make them unique in their right. Some of our teacup breeds are superior watch dogs despite their size. They don’t think they are small so they don’t act like they are small. If you are the type of person who would rather live in an apartment versus a home with a yard the teacup breeds are perfectly suited for that type of environment. Most of our teacup breeds never get over 7 pounds and they are quite comfortable sleeping in a small corner or a narrow pathway.

Some of our other breeds are slightly larger, but possess the same personality traits of our toy breeds. Fiercely devoted to their owners, English Bulldogs make superior watch dogs when they feel something or someone is on the prowl. These dogs are surprisingly tolerant and gentle with children, which makes them the perfect pet for young families. English bulldogs don’t need a tremendous amount of exercise; we recommend three walks a day. These stern looking dogs are a staple in English society and are quickly working their way to become ‘the perfect pet’ here in the states.

Our staff at affordablepup.com makes every effort to match the right dog with the right environment and family. We fall in love with our dogs the moment they take their first breath. We know that you will fall in love with them too.

Legends of the Ancient and Honorable Pug

Feb 09

When a dog breed has been around for 2500 years there are sure to be a few good stories about it. Depictions of the Chinese pug can be found as far back as 551 BC when they were often found on the laps of the Chinese sovereigns of the Shang Dynasty. Confucius actually mentioned a pug in one of his writings, describing it as a “short mouthed dog” in one scroll. This writing was a rare find because the Emperor Qin Shi destroyed all the records he could find on the Pug’s origins in 221 BC. To him, the ancestors of the Pug puppies for sale we have here at Affordable Pup were ancient Foo dogs, guardians of the Han dynasty that would eventually rule after his death.

The Pug can also be found in Tibet where they have been the companions of Buddhist monks for two millennia. In the 1600’s, the east India Trading Company imported them to Europe, where they quickly made an impact. One pug saved the life of William of Orange. Another, in the 18th Century, took messages back and forth from Les Carmes prison for Josephine Bonaparte, the wife of Napoleon. In the 19th Century, Queen Victoria cemented the pug in Western culture by adopting and breeding a number of them. During that error they were bred to create the English bulldog, the Pekingese, and the King Charles spaniel, all toy dogs you can find here at Affordable Pup.

How can one breed of dog have had so much influence on the world over the centuries? Not only has the pug survived and thrived; it has been the preferred choice of royalty since the beginnings of civilization. Is it possible that this little dog has some kind of divine powers like the Chinese once believed? Is the pug for sale you are about to adopt an ancient Foo dog, a guardian that no evil spirits can get past? It sounds pretty far fetched but there’s no denying that this dog is special.

Toy dogs in America are often overlooked in favor of their larger more aggressive cousins. The German shepherd and golden retriever are symbols of Americana, but toy dogs are actually more popular numbers-wise. You need a yard and lots of open space to own a big dog. They can be found in apartments, but it’s not fair to the dog and the owner soon tires of the cramped living quarters. Toy dogs can live anywhere. All they need is companionship and food. They adapt to all living situations.

Two of the descendants of the pug are also available here at Affordable Pup. We have King Charles puppies for sale and English bulldog puppies for sale. Take some time and browse through our website to view some of the candidates from all three breeds. They make wonderful companions and you might just see a little bit of that magic they’re famous for. Are you ready to bring a Foo dog or Foo descendent into your home?

Chihuahuas are the Smallest AKC Recognized Breed

Feb 06

The Chihuahua puppies for sale we have here at Affordable Pup are considered by many to be the most interesting breed of toy dog there is. They are the smallest recognized breed by the American Kennel Club, with a standard of six pounds or less, and their origins are shrouded in mystery, giving them a certain mystique in selected circles. The most broadly accepted theory is that they come from Mexico and are descended from the Techichi, a favored pet of the Toltecs, but the records of that civilization are incomplete at best and limited evidence has been found.

Another theory, one that actually has some historical evidence behind it, is that the Chihuahua first originated in Europe, possibly on the island of Malta. There is a fresco in the Sistine Chapel, painted by Sandro Boticelli in 1482, that depicts a dog that looks exactly like the Chihuahua. Columbus didn’t return from the Americas until ten years later so it’s not possible that Boticelli could have seen the Mexican version.

Is it possible that similar breeds developed on two different sides of the world or did the Chihuahua evolve early in human history when the Asian and North American land masses were connected? There are eerie similarities between some of the Asian races and South American Indian tribes. Why not two nearly identical dog breeds? Some of the teacup Chihuahua puppies for sale we come across could have European origins. We can’t really tell. Their barks don’t seem to have any kind of accent.

Human beings, with our unfettered imaginations, can come up with conspiracy theories and ghost stories about anything. There’s a legend about El Lobo in Mexico, the gray wolf that is believed to be the ancestor of the Chihuahua. The species isn’t often seen these days and some believe it to be extinct. The superstitious tend to associate any sightings with either bad or good luck depending on the region and circumstances. To those folks, the Chihuahua is a sacred animal, one that is treated like a god.

Of course, the Chihuahua isn’t the only dog here with legends attached to it. The Maltese puppies for sale have ancestry that can be traced back to 500 BC, Pomeranians descend from prehistoric Spitz dogs, and Havanese were nearly extinct in the United States at one point. What do they all have in common? They’re all available here at Affordable Pup. Come on inside and meet some of them.

The Malti Pom is a Cross Breed of Ancient Bloodlines

Feb 02

The Maltese was first depicted in literature back in 500 BC on a small Etruscan Island south of a fledgling republic that would someday become the Empire of Rome. The Pomeranian is a descendent of the German Spitz dog, once thought to be the oldest dog breed on the planet with characteristics seen in many Stone Age fossilized remains of early canines. That has since been disproved by genetic evidence, but the Pomeranian is still considered royalty among toy dog breeders. The combination of the two breeds produced, among others, the Malti Pom puppies for sale we have here at Affordable Pup. You’ll find, if you adopt one, they offer the best of both breeds.

It is widely believed that the Maltese was the preferred dog of the noble women of ancient Malta, though the exact origins of the dog are not known. Some believe the Maltese may have first been bred on the Adriatic Island of Mljet or the former Sicilian town of Melita. These multiple claims on the origins of this dog are evidence of its overwhelming popularity. Over the centuries it has proven to be a loyal companion with a resilient physical makeup and a pleasant demeanor.

Ironically, the Maltese is thought to be descended originally from an ancient line of Spitz dogs that resided around Lake Geneva in Switzerland, making them a distant cousin to the Pomeranian. That could be why they’re so compatible for breeding. The teacup Malti Pom puppies for sale Ohio pet lovers adopt from us seem to have a strength and lust for life that far surpass that of other dogs we come across. If you adopt a Malti Pom, be prepared to spend some time with it. They crave human attention.

Either breed is of course also available as a pure bred here at Affordable Pup. There are also other cross breed varieties available, like the Malti Poo, a cross between a Maltese and Poodle, and the Cava Pom, a Cavalier Spaniel and Pomeranian. These are mixes that seem to work well together, as each new coupling adds strength to the bloodline and possibly opens the door to an entirely new, pure breed some day. Breeders find combinations that work and tend to stick with them.

Whether you’re looking for the pure bred Maltese puppies for sale Ohio breeders prize so highly, or a mixed breed dog that you just want to love and care for, you can find it here at Affordable Pup. Take some time and browse our website, use the webcam option to get to know your potential selections, and then write back to us to tell the rest of the world about your experience. We’d be happy to publish your feedback.
