Have a Welcome Home Party for your Puppy

Bringing home a new puppy is very much like bringing home a new baby. The Pug Puppies for sale at our kennel are healthy but, delicate. Many people who purchase our puppies don’t generally wait 9 months but, in some respects there is the same amount of planning.

Take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page; our staff has thought of every question you might want to ask about buying and caring for your new puppy. Every now and then a question comes up about our Havanese Puppies for sale or our Yorkie Poo Puppies that we haven’t thought of and if you have one of those you can email us or call us. We will be happy to address your concerns.

Plan for your puppy the way you might plan for your new baby. In our FAQ’s we recommend getting a Children’s Pack n’ Play pen before your new puppy arrives. You see these play pens frequently at the beach. They are lightweight and can be relocated easily. Your puppy should spend its time sleeping and resting in this play pen for several days after he or she comes home.

Clean your house meticulously. A human baby will stay in your arms or in its crib much of its first weeks when it is home. A puppy is a little different. Make sure there are no small objects the puppy could pick up and chew on. If you have had a rodent problem in the past vacuum up all droppings and get rid of all traps. Puppy proofing your house shouldn’t be rocket science but, your puppy will be curious so be prepared.

Find a veterinarian you trust. We don’t recommend looking in the phone book. Talk to your friends and neighbors who have dogs. The more people you talk to you will find that there are one or two very trusted vets in your area. If you are still concerned go and visit a few and introduce yourself. Many times you can tell how your puppy will be treated by the way the staff treats you.

These first 2 weeks in your home are the most critical for your new puppy. Keep him or her in the warmest part of the house. If you have children talk to them before the puppy comes home. The temptation to hold and cuddle a puppy is strong, nature made it that way for a reason. A few supervised minutes 2 or 3 times a day is plenty. This is a new environment for your puppy they need time to get to know you and his or her new surroundings.

Finally, the two most important things for a puppy are food and rest. Our FAQ page is a sort of bible when it comes to feeding your puppy. Before your puppy arrives; make sure you have all the necessary food we recommend. Just like a human baby they need feeding every 2 to 3 hours. Set you alarm and get up to feed your puppy if he or she doesn’t get you up first. Rest, Rest and more Rest is our stern recommendation. Don’t let your puppy be bothered; as the saying goes let sleeping dogs lie. When they sleep they grow. Don’t do anything to inhibit that.

Teacup Breeds Make Excellent Therapy Dogs

There are many ‘sayings’ about people who go into one of the helping fields. Comments like ‘teachers are born and not made’ or ‘when other children were playing on the playground she was inside caring for her sick baby doll.’ Many people know from very early on what they were put on this earth to do. Some of our dogs, we believe, have that same intuition.

Therapy dogs come in all shapes and sizes. Some of the larger dogs are used to help patients in physical therapy by slowly walking with them or simply encouraging them with the wag of a tail. The larger dogs certainly serve their purpose but, it is the smaller dogs especially the teacup breeds that make all the difference for a hospitalized or Hospice patient.

For those patients something small, warm and affectionate to cuddle means the world to them. When ambulatory patients find out there is a therapy dog in someone else’s room they will go to that room. The dog reduces loneliness even when he or she isn’t there.

Therapy dogs have to go through classes and certification but, many of our puppies are naturals at what they do and breeze through the training. Love at First Sight

If there is one comment we hear a lot here at Affordablepup.com, ‘It was love at first sight.’  Our staff experiences love at first sight with every puppy.  As much as we work with puppies you would think we would be immune to their charms.  Nope, every puppy we lay eyes on, we fall in love with.  We don’t even try to fight it anymore.

Some of the most loved puppies in our kennel are our teacup breeds.  They are born little and they stay that way.  Somehow they make us fall in love all over again every time we see them.

One of the most popular of the teacup breeds is the Teacup Yorkie.  Our other breeds are just as cute but these little guys have an allure all their own.  They stay small and they keep their puppy energy and enthusiasm most of their adult life.  Our kennel always has Teacup Yorkie puppies for sale in Ohio; if you are interested in adopting one we can always arrange a webcam appointment so you can take a better look at your puppy to be.

Another ‘it was love at first sight’ breed has to be the Teacup Maltese.  These little beauties will steal your heart the first time you set eyes on them.  If you have ever seen a Maltese at a dog show you see them moving, but their long fur hides their legs.  As one woman put it, ‘It’s the sweetest thing I ever saw.’  These dogs are very easy to train and can be trained to be therapy dogs in hospitals and Hospice Centers.  We have a constant demand for these dogs and you can always come to us to find Teacup Maltese puppies for sale.

Despite their size Toy Breeds think they are Herculean

Our staff has a good chuckle every time we get a letter or an email about the devotion and protective nature of our little dogs.  Many of these breeds think nothing of approaching a human 10 times their size and letting them know whose boss.

One of those breeds is the Teacup Morkie.   Some would call this breed a hybrid or a designer dog but, it is a wonderful breed for so many reasons.  Morkies came into being by breeding a Maltese and a Yorkie.  Each breed brought its own uniqueness into the mix and what the breeder received was nothing short of the ideal toy dog.  Morkies are truly fearless. They do not hesitate to sound the alert when they sense danger.  Their temperament with their owners is legendary.  They are full of energy but are very social animals.

The Morkies for sale in our kennel have various size and color combinations.  If you stop by our main website you will have trouble deciding which Morkie to choose from.  A Morkies coat takes its darker colors from the Yorkie the white patches from the Maltese.

Another toy breed that is an excellent watchdog as well as a trusted companion is the Teacup Pomeranian.  The Teacup Pomeranians for sale in our facility are a perfect example of the breed.  These little guys won’t get more than a foot tall.  That will not stop them from being the perfect burglar alarm.  Pomeranian puppies don’t eat a lot; their full grown body weight won’t be over about 6 pounds.

Looking like a little ball of fur, they approach their owners with lightening speed.  They are known for their extreme agility in canine sports.  Most of the Pomeranians were bred for hunting and in some that instinct still exists.  They are comfortable in wide open spaces and seem to be just as happy in an apartment size dwelling.

Cute and Cuddly; These Puppies Work Wonders

There is something magical about a toy breed of puppy. It doesn’t matter what the breed is they are enchanting. Even if you have had a bad day at work you come home to this warm cuddly bundle of energy and suddenly things don’t seem so bad. These little dogs are the highlight of their owner’s lives.

Fiercely devoted to their owners, English Bulldogs make superior watch dogs when they feel something or someone is on the prowl. These dogs are surprisingly tolerant and gentle with children, which makes them the perfect pet for young families. English bulldogs don’t need a tremendous amount of exercise; we recommend three walks a day. These stern looking dogs are a staple in English society and are quickly working their way to become ‘the perfect pet’ here in the states.
