Who’s Walking Who? Training your Teacup Puppy
Mar 09
We try to make sure that we’re always open to field inquiries about pet adoption and care whenever possible and we hear an awful lot from those who adopt our puppies. The most common questions we get about the Yorkie puppies for sale in Ohio pet owners are looking for have to do with training and discipline. Those who have cared for Yorkies in the past know that they are very affectionate and loyal dogs that will rarely leave your side. They are, however, extremely playful and can bolt when you’re out walking them. Training prevents some of that. A good leash works even better. Investing in both is recommended if you’re going to adopt a Yorkie or any other dog.
The most important factor in training your dog is making sure that he or she knows what the word “no” means. It’s very easy to get caught up in lavishing affection on that cute and cuddly fur ball, but keep in mind that teaching an animal to obey commands is beneficial to the animal as well as the owner. Once you start letting them get away with little things here and there it will be impossible to train them later on, or at the very least very difficult. Do you really want to put yourself through that?

Your hold them, pet them, and let them get away with little things like chewing up household items and going after people food. Do you plan on allowing that forever? Stop it now.
The behaviors that are cute and seemingly harmless today will become an annoyance in the future. We encourage you to love and show affection for your teacup puppy at all times, but make sure that your dog knows right from wrong. It’s fairly easy to do, doesn’t require any kind of physical abuse, and will strengthen the relationship the two of you have with each other. A dog is mans best friend, but man is the master in the relationship. You can never forget that or the puppy will start running your house.
Is a Yorkie or Maltese going to drag you down the street when you have them on a leash? That’s not likely to happen. Some of the English bulldogs for sale that we have here might be capable of that, but even they will come to heel if you train them properly. Start the process the moment you get them home. It’s important. The health, welfare, and happiness of both the pet and the pet owner depend on it. Now, if you could just train the kids in the same way …
